Live Long... and May the Force be with You!

Over the past few months, you may have watched a series of YouTube videos posted by William Shatner (Captain James T. Kirk) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) where they debated the merits of Star Trek vs Star Wars; a intergalactic war of words that fans on both sides have waged at local sci-fi conventions and message forums over the years.  It wasn’t until Star Trek icon and Star Wars alumni George Takei called on fans of both franchises to set aside their differences and enjoy what they have in common that fans began to wonder if there could in fact be peace in the galaxy.

Recently, members of Spanish Base met with Club Star Trek Cochrane Madrid to do just that!  They met at a comic book store where they shared some laughs, exchanged lightsabers and tricorders and talked about their mutual love for “a galaxy far, far away” in “the final frontier.” They watched “Landing at Point Rain” from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and “The Andorian Incident” from Star Trek: Enterprise. While Isma (Spanish Base RO and Temple Master) confessed to having never watched an episode of Star Trek, he admits that watching the show with Trekies provided plenty of laughs with some unique commentaries.   Everyone had a great time!
“It's rare to see a Star Trek fan with a lightsaber, and we did it.” - Isma
